CTHS Competition Sponsors
We would like to inform you about an excellent learning opportunity that is available to our culinary students. The Texas ProStart culinary competition endorsed by the Texas Restaurant Association and National Restaurant Association is an innovative contest for culinary students from across the state.
In this competition, students learn about leadership, teamwork, and what it takes to have a successful career in the restaurant industry. The competition is judged by respected chefs in the industry and students work in teams to develop and prepare a three-course fine dining meal all under the watchful eye of the judges, included are some past menus created by our culinary teams. Competitors are scored on teamwork, communication, menu presentation, sanitation, knife skills and overall appearance and taste of their completed menu.
We are honored to represent Pasadena ISD and have been working hard to be successful in this competition. In fact, last year our team placed third in the State level competition out of 40 total teams. We are very proud of this achievement, especially when you consider the high level of competition. However, our ultimate goal is to step on the podium as first in the state of Texas and represent our state and district at the national level.
In addition, students that compete qualify for scholarships to further their culinary education and the opportunity to learn from leading culinary professionals.
The cost for registration and travel expenses per student is $400. Furthermore, it costs the program around $4,000 to train for the competition which includes total food and equipment costs. Therefore we are seeking sponsorship for our students, and we greatly appreciate any donation that you can contribute. We thank you for any support that you can offer and want you to know that any amount helps. Also, we will promote any sponsorship though our social media sites and hang any banner or flyer for your business in our kitchen.
