Why are you running for city council? *
I am running for Pasadena City Councilmember District “F” again because I enjoy helping solve the problems of the citizens of Pasadena.
I am currently heavily involved in purchasing new Software for all of our City Departments. I have just finished researching and recommending new Software for the Cities Planning, Permitting, Public Works and Code Enforcement Departments. We are currently in the process of installing and implementing this Software. The Mayor designated me as the coordinator for this Software implementation mainly because of my Corporate experience in Software Implementation.
I want to continue helping our City Departments and moving our City forward while “PLANNING FOR THE FUTURE OF PASADENA”
Each council district is comprised of thousands of people who live and work in Pasadena. What qualifications, job training and/or volunteer experiences prepare you to serve as the representative of your district?
I am a graduate Civil Engineer and I helped place the 1st Man on the Moon while working 3 years for the Boeing Company, helped construct various Navy Vessel while working 5 years for Litton Ship Systems and helped construct various plants, such as Petrochemical and Power, all over the United States while working 41 years for Kellogg Brown and Root (KBR). All of my practical Engineering and Construction experience has helped me understand how to fix the problems that the citizens have and my Engineering and Construction knowledge been invaluable to the City of Pasadena.
What are your top three priorities in serving the city of Pasadena and one thing you want to advocate for specifically on behalf of your district?
My top three priorities in serving the citizens of Pasadena has always been Public Safety, Drainage/Flood Control/Rebuilding the Cities Infrastructure and Senior Citizen/Youth Programs. My priorities for District “F” include completing Pansy Street between Old Vista and Vista Streets, completing Detention Basins in Bliss Meadows, Spencer Village Subdivisions and on Armand Bayou between Beltway 8 and Deadman Street. I also want to continue replacing all broken sidewalks in District “F” and repave several Asphalt Streets in Golden Acres and Cresthaven Subdivision.
Our city is mostly developed, and in order to grow, will have to begin to redevelop. How would you facilitate redevelopment? What tools (TIRZ, chapter 380 agreements, municipal bonds, livable community funding, management districts, grants) would you support to assist with redevelopment?
With my continuing support the City of Pasadena has recently finished a New 5 Year Capital Improvement Plan which is a Plan for the infrastructure of Pasadena with emphasis on rebuilding 25 miles of New Streets (which is a total of 96 Streets) with the associated Drainage in the Northern Sections of Pasadena.
The Mayor and City Council is also considering funding for TIRZ Districts, Livable Community Centers , Grants and Municipal Bonds in redeveloping several sections of Pasadena.
We will eventually need some developers to buy some of the older homes and businesses in the Northern Sections of Pasadena and tear down these buildings and houses and rebuild them.
“Pasadena Loves Local” is an initiative focused on supporting local business and encouraging all citizens to choose local to benefit our community. In your opinion, what can be done to improve the quality of life in Pasadena so that it is a great place for people to choose Pasadena to live, work, play and shop? *
I will continue to support local business interest, promote beautification of the City, continue to build Community integrity, tear down dangerous buildings, improve parks/hike and bike trails and rebuild the Cities Infrastructure to help our citizens stay in Pasadena so they can shop local.
My philosophy has always been: “I will continue to create a safer, more attractive place to live while improving the essentials that lead to a better quality of life for all citizens”. -
