JOIN THE AMERICAN HEART ASSOCIATION FOR THE
2014 BAY AREA HEART & STROKE WALK
WHAT: Please join the American Heart Association (AHA) for the 2014 Bay Area Heart & Stroke Walk on Saturday, November 1, 2014. The walk will feature family fun and physical fitness to promote walking as a part of a healthy lifestyle while raising funds to support cardiovascular research and educational programs for the AHA. This large-scale and non-competitive 5K walk encourages the participation of various communities and neighborhoods in the Bay Area.

WHY: Heart disease and stroke — the nation’s No. 1 and No. 4 killers — and all other cardiovascular diseases, claim more than 813,804 American lives a year. The American Heart Association's goal is $375,000 for the 2014 Bay Area Heart & Stroke Walk. Research funded by the American Heart Association has yielded or contributed to many important innovations such as CPR, life-extending drugs (including clot-busters), pacemakers, bypass surgery, the heart-lung machine and surgical techniques to repair heart defects.
