Dear Fellow Non-Profit Members, I am reaching out to you specifically as an opportunity has presented itself to work with our very talented students of PISD in a few capacities that I would like to share with you as a valued non-profit member of our chamber. We have been begun partnering with Pasadena High School in an effort to find community service projects and part time internships for students participating in the Pasadena Early College High School program. In this program students will graduate with an associate’s degree from San Jacinto College in conjunction with their high school diploma. These are hand selected students who will then pursue their studies at four year institutions post-graduation that are looking for opportunities for both community service projects and internship opportunities to enhance their resumes and experiences prior to entering the work force. As a fellow non-profit we have participated in this program and it has been tremendously beneficial for both our organization and the students. In an effort to further expand this program I’d like to invite you to our office to hear more about the program and how these students can make your life easier for either large scale events you host and are in need of manpower, physical labor for projects or if you’re looking for a student to just come in and help with some administrative/clerical items. I’m confident we can work together to fill a need for both your organization and the student. There are a lot of misconceptions related to utilizing student volunteers and working in a traditional “internship” and I’d like the opportunity to unveil some truths! Please join me on Friday February 12th at 8:30am at the Pasadena Chamber of Commerce to learn more, please feel free to invite any relative colleagues or others who you think might benefit from learning more about engaging in this program. Please let me know if you have any questions. Best, Cristina
