This committee plans and executes our Annual Rugged Race in cooperation with the Pasadena Independent School District. The children of Pasadena ISD need help to create activity spaces on their campuses and in their communities to stay socially, emotionally, and physically healthy. Due to budget constraints, many schools must use what little resources they have on the academic component of school. But as most of us know, a lot of valuable learning takes place on the playground. Physical activity exerts a powerful, positive influence on physical health, emotional stability, and the motivation and ability to learn. Healthy habits are learned at a young age, so implementing healthy lifestyles and choices at the elementary and middle school level is crucial for students to learn lifelong healthy habits. Because of the declining health of Americans, this generation of children is predicted to have a shorter lifespan than their parents. Negative health outcomes are the result of a culture and society in which unhealthy has become the norm. Come plan with us!
