The City of Pasadena will host a Welcome Home Celebratiom in honor of Pasadena native Marlen Esparza, who won a bronze medal at the London Olympics in women's boxing. Marlen also made history with a record run of national championships, as well as being the first American woman to qualify for boxing at the Olympics and the first woman ever to clinch an Olympic medal in boxing. We invite you all to join us at City Hall on Tuesday, September 4th at 6pm, as we celebrate all of her accomplishments. During the celebration, Mayor Johnny Isbell and City Council will present Marlen with an official proclamation and a key to the city. She was raised right here in Pasadena, and we hope that everyone in the community will come out and show Marlen how proud of her we really are.
