    Pasadena Chamber of Commerce Internship Program – Admin & Membership Intern
    The Pasadena Chamber of Commerce Internship Program offers opportunities for students to gain hands-on experience in the world of non-profit organizations, business networking, community development, and advocacy. This program is designed to provide interns with a comprehensive understanding of the inner workings of a chamber of commerce, including event planning, member services, marketing, and economic development. Additionally, interns are provided with a professional framework where they grow their knowledge and find their strengths.
    Duration: The internship is typically offered on a semester basis, including fall, spring, and summer terms, with flexibility in start and end dates to accommodate academic schedules. Interns are eligible to serve more than one term, upon invitation.  Scheduled  hours are flexible to accommodate academic schedules within Office Hours from Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM, with occasional evening hours for special events. Student interns work up to 20 hours a week in the office at the Pasadena Chamber.
     
    Details: The Intern will work hand in hand with the Membership Coordinator to ensure that all Pasadena Chamber initiatives, administration, and member engagement is fulfilled. This document outlines the intern's responsibilities, necessary skills, and the variety of tasks they will undertake. The chamber has a variety of structures for internship programs and each one is unique in compensation, awarded scholarship or even class credit depending on the school and eligibility.     Location: Internships are primarily based at the Pasadena Chamber of Commerce office; however, interns will also have the chance to support the Membership Coordinator off-site, during ribbon cuttings, events, or while participating in community events and meetings.
    Key Responsibilities:

    • Assisting in day-to-day office administrative tasks:
      • mail processing
      • check & cash posting
      • navigating phone system
      • assisting walk-in guests
    • Mailing invoices and other out-going mail
    • Assist in filing management system and data preservation of chamber files
    • Data Entry in Computer Data Base, ChamberMaster
    • Attend Ribbon Cutting Celebrations with Membership Coordinator
    • Read/Respond in a timely manner to all chamber emails for information requests
    • Assist with Social Media Marketing through graphic curation for member posts as needed
    • Assisting Membership Coordinator and Office Manager in various projects and committee support
    • Research projects as assigned by Membership Coordinator and Office Manager
    • Become well versed with member benefits and engagement opportunities to address member needs
    • Prepare membership prospect packets
    • Prepare new member bags

    Requirements & Eligibility
    • Must have reliable transportation to and from work and a valid driver’s license
    • MS Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Google Sheets/Docs and Adobe Acrobat skills desired as candidate will use various programs to assist Chamber staff with projects
    • Must have basic working knowledge of how computer systems work to setup and troubleshoot computers, laptops, iPads, and other office technology
    • Ability to do physical work lifting a minimum of 20lbs and work outside in uncertain weather conditions.
    • Fluent in English and Spanish preferred but not required.
