Posted: 01/06/2026The Pasadena Chamber of Commerce is currently seeking a talented professional to join our team as we fill an important role that supports the delivery of our robust Program of Work and signature events. The Event Manager position plays a vital role in ensuring we continue to serve our members with excellence as we connect, advocate, serve, and educate our community.
This full-time position is responsible for the successful planning and execution of all Chamber programs and signature events, including Taste of the Town, Golf Tournament, Annual Gala and Membership Luncheons. Ideal candidates will have demonstrated experience in strategic event planning, fundraising, organization, and financial performance within a nonprofit or chamber environment.

JOB DESCRIPTION:
Position Objectives- To positively represent the Pasadena Chamber vision and values to all members, prospective members, vendors and community stakeholders.
- To implement the chamber’s program of work through planning and executing all meetings,events, and major fundraising initiatives, recognizing that event revenue is achieved through both exceptional event delivery and active sponsorship sales and solicitation efforts.
- Responsible for the strategic planning, organization and financial success of all chamber events and meetings under the direction of the Vice President. Including but not limited to: 4workshops, 5 luncheons, 2 receptions, Candidate Forum, Job Fair, Golf Tournament, Taste of theTown and Annual Gala
- Maintain event planning documents, create timelines, task lists and annual plan of work to effectively manage planning multiple events simultaneously
- Coordinate details for venue, catering, signage, décor, security, permits, vendor management,set up, breakdown, and volunteers for all events
- Develop, manage, and monitor event budgets and revenue projections, ensuring financial goals are met through sponsorship sales and attendee participation
- Lead sponsorship sales efforts for events, including identifying prospects, conducting outreach,presenting sponsorship opportunities, securing commitments, and achieving sponsorshiprevenue targets
- Negotiate in-kind sponsorship agreements and ensure sponsor fulfillment and recognition
- Collaborate with chamber staff and volunteers following events to evaluate processes,execution, and achievement of financial goals to create event summaries and best practices forfuture events
- Lead event-planning committees with volunteers and staff to accomplish goals and strategy foreffective fundraising events. This includes planning and execution of committee meetings thatincludes scheduling, publicizing, setting agendas, briefing committee leadership, taking accurate notes and being responsible for all follow-ups.
- Develop and maintain a working knowledge of Chamber membership levels and benefits to best serve existing and prospective members by recognizing that the chamber events exist to makethe chamber’s primary mission possible.
- Responsible for meeting with members to increase their participation and understanding of available membership benefits and how to effectively utilize chamber resources
- Perform monthly membership renewal aging calls, ensuring that all members are aware of their renewal period and are utilizing them effectively to maintain their membership.
- Responsible for ongoing data collection and integrity of chamber’s CRM database through inputting and updating all member records to ensure accuracy and communications with each member.
- Ability to create and present a positive impression of the Chamber
- Ability to perform in a fast-paced work environment subject to interruptions requiring a high level of flexibility
- Sales aptitude with ability to solicit sponsorships and close commitments
- Maintaining and nurturing effective relationships, having outstanding interpersonal communication skills with ability to respond diplomatically and communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
- Ability to prioritize tasks and goals to work effectively and efficiently
- Strong ability to work with spreadsheets and budgeting concepts is vital
- Ability to ask questions for clarification and seek help as needed to accomplish the priorities and objectives of your role and the objectives and vision of the chamber
- Confident, enthusiastic, and assertive personality
- Excellent telephone skills with a thorough knowledge of telephone etiquette
- Ability to manage and delegate tasks to student interns and volunteers
- Possess a degree of personal and professional integrity; ability to follow the guidelines of the chamber’s team norms, core values, and internal values.
- Ability to think strategically and see the big picture in addition to the small details to identify trouble-spots or opportunities and recommend changes, enhancements and improvements for all events and programs.
- Bachelor’s degree desired; candidates with technical or associate degrees and equivalent event planning experience will be considered
- Minimum of three years relevant experience in event planning required. Previous experience in non-profit or membership-based business association is preferred.
- Supervision or management experience leading large groups of volunteers is preferred
- Bilingual preferred
- Proficient experience in all major office-related computer applications, including Microsoft Office Suite, spreadsheets, and presentation software. The successful applicant should have skills to create attractive and meaningful event reports and presentations. Graphic software ability and knowledge is a plus. Candidate must possess strong office computer skills and able to learn chamber CRM database for advanced use of data for reporting
- This is a demanding full-time position that does require before and after hours surrounding the major chamber events. Applicants should have a schedule that is flexible enough around the annual calendar of events.
- The position is primarily a Monday- Friday 8am – 5pm professional office-based position that requires light to moderate physical work such as carrying and storing event supplies. Physical tasks involve the ability to exert moderate physical effort in light work, typically involving some combination of stooping, kneeling, and lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of moderate weight up to 40 pounds.
